WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING FOR THIS TRIP:
Uruguay Duck Hunting
Uruguay Dove Hunting
- Dove Hunting Shotgun / Duck Hunting Shotgun
- your shotgun should be a 12 or 20 ga. (preferably an autoloader)
- Recoil Pad: Kevlar or some other form of protection from the recoil that is a byproduct of Uruguay duck hunting, and Uruguay dove hunting. Take care no to be to bulky when combining a Kevlar pad with a high-quality waterfowl hunting parka.
- Shooting Glasses and Ear Protection: One must take great care to protect the eyes and ears—especially when shooting in close proximity with other shooters, such as when engaging in Uruguay Pigeon hunting, and Perdiz hunting.
- Headgear: you will want to bring a few items here to account for all temperatures—a baseball cap (preferably camo), a wool hat, or a skull cap (waterproof). You will want to have something to keep your head warm and dry on cold / rainy days. Camo is always a plus, but dark colors are functional and acceptable.
- Shooting Gloves: These are some of the most overlooked pieces of gear on the list. You will need a very high quality pair of shooting gloves for Perdiz hunting, and Uruguay dove hunting, as these will tax your hands and fingers more than any other type of shooting.
- An assortment of chokes for your gun: in most cases an improved cylinder will get the job done, however for Uruguay pigeon hunting, we do recommend a modified choke for longer shots-as always your experience dictates what you will need to bring in this department.
- Waders: waders are needed only for Uruguay duck hunting
- Waterproof Hunting Boots: these are a must for all shooting venues. You will need to walk through standing water—so be prepared.
- First Aid and Medicine: although there is excellent medical care available throughout Uruguay, one should carry a basic first aid kit, and obviously any prescription medications that one might need for the trip.
- Hunting Vest and/or Shell Pouch: You will want to have a comfortable way to store your shells, especially for Uruguay pigeon hunting, Uruguay dove hunting, and Perdiz hunting.
- Light: Flashlights and Light sticks are always nice to have along in case of a power failure at the lodge, or during times of darkness in the field.
- Phones: It is never a bad idea to have a satellite phone in the event of an emergency. Satellite phone work virtually anywhere, and they are very reliable. Most lodges have cell phone coverage—just make arrangements with your carrier before departing on your Uruguay duck hunting trip.
OTHER TIPS AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR YOUR TRIP
You will want to consider purchasing travel insurance for your trip. There are many different levels of insurance available, as well as many different policies. Some of the insurance policies will allow you to cancel your trip for any reason, others will give partial refunds for certain circumstances such as: work related emergencies, a death in the family, or even if your home was destroyed during a natural disaster.
As you can see, there are many reasons that one might have to cancel a Uruguay dove hunting trip, or any other trip for that matter. Uruguay duck hunting trips are probably the most important to insure, because outfitters run 100% full, there is no makeup space available for those who cancel—therefore protecting your investment is paramount. For only 200-400 dollars, you can protect yourself financially if you need to cancel.
On the other hand, Uruguay pigeon hunting trips, Perdiz hunting trips, and Uruguay dove hunts can normally be rescheduled with a credit applied for next month / season / year—however, it is important to bear in mind that this is not a guarantee, and is subject to approval buy your outfitter, so it is always best to purchase insurance.
