Many of our clients who join us for Uruguay duck hunting, continue westward after a few days to experience some of the fabulous Uruguay bird hunting that lies on the other side of the country in Colonia.

Colonia is situated in the southern portion of the country of Uruguay.  It is a city, but it is also a “state” of Uruguay—called a department.  The city sits on the river, right across from the venerable city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. 

Many of our clients who join us for Uruguay dove hunting spend a weekend or more in the great city of Buenos Aires before venturing over to The Oriental Republic of Uruguay for a week of wingshooting. Colonia carries with it the distinction of being the oldest city in the country of Uruguay—even older than the much larger and more well know city, Montevideo. 

The population of the “state” of Colonia is only about 23,000—not a very big city for such an old settlement, but what it does not have it population, it makes up for in old world charm and hospitality—much like the rest of the country.

Again, we encourage potential Uruguay bird hunting clients to consider a trip to Colonia.  There are many excellent hotels and restaurants in the city, and one will never run short of things to see in do in a weekend there.  If you request the assistance of a member of the Los Gauchos staff, we will be happy to accompany you on your journey for a nominal fee.

Most dove hunting trips are 3 days in length. Remember, this is high volume shooting. No limits and tons of doves and opportunities to shoot. You will do an afternoon shoot on the first day, followed by two full days. The fourth morning you will dove hunt until noon and depart Colonia, Uruguay.
